We consider that uniform is important for several reasons
- It provides pupils with a sense of identity and pride in their school.
- It enhances the appearance of pupils and therefore the reputation of the school.
- It helps to instil a sense of purpose in pupils when they put on their uniform in the mornings.
- It helps overcome the worry about “fitting in” with fashions and keeping up with other children.
- It overcomes the problem for both parents and teachers about what is suitable attire for school.
Uniform
- Navy sweatshirt or cardigan
- Emerald green or white polo shirt
- Navy, grey or black skirt or tailored trousers or shorts (not tracksuit, leggings, combat, sweat pants, or very short shorts)
- Plain navy, grey, black or white socks or tights.
- Flat, black, sensible shoes or trainers (please ensure that trainers do not have lots of coloured flashing lights, bright coloured laces or bright stripes). Short, fitted, flat, black ankle boots are permitted. Loose or knee length boots are not suitable inside school – children find them very uncomfortable when indoors due to our underfloor heating.
- Blue and white checked dresses
PE kit
- White or emerald green t-shirt and navy shorts or jogging bottoms. Please note that very short, stretchy, ‘hot pant’ type shorts are inappropriate for the activities we do in school and should not be worn – any shorts should be at least mid-thigh length.
- Black plimsolls or trainers. Other types of boots or wellies may be worn to school, but a change of shoes must be provided for use indoors.
Additional Information
Boots or wellingtons may be worn to school, but a change of shoes should also be provided for use indoors. Pupils may wear plain silver or gold stud earrings and a watch. Earrings should be removed for PE. No other jewellery is permitted. Extreme hairstyles and tattoos are not permitted in school.
Accessories
Pupils may wear plain silver or gold stud earrings and a watch. Earrings should be removed for PE. No other jewellery is permitted. Clear nail varnish is permitted. Coloured nail varnish, gels or extensions are not permitted. We discourage elaborate and fancy accessories e.g. tiaras, big bows, ornate hair bands etc. due to our poverty proofing principles. These also easily get broken and lost.
Stationery
Please note that school provides all necessary stationery for children – we supply lots of lovely resources for children to share. Please note that children are not allowed to bring in their own pencil cases, pen assortments etc. Items are very easily lost and muddled up. In addition, this can cause financial stress to families when children naturally want or try to ‘keep up’ with what their friends have. As we know you’ll understand, we try to embed our values of equality and empathy in recognising that not everyone can afford luxury items. Many thanks for your support with this.
School bags Nursery – Year 4
Children from nursery to Year 4 should only bring in a book bag and their water bottle. A light, drawstring bag may be brought in as an addition if necessary to store hats, caps, gloves etc. No other bags or backpacks should be brought into school please as we do not have sufficient storage space on pegs or in classrooms.
Years 5 and 6
Children in Years 5 and 6 may bring in a small backpack rather than a book bag/drawstring bag if they prefer. These must be small enough to fit into their locker along with their coat.
Purchasing School Uniform
There is no requirement to wear logoed sweatshirts, cardigans or T-shirts, but should families wish to purchase uniform with a logo, our main uniform supplier is Emblematic. You can order directly from their website below.
