As part of Western’s ongoing raising aspirations agenda, children are introduced to different careers and job opportunities linked to our curriculum. Each half term, children explore short, engaging videos that highlight different career paths and provides useful Labour Market information. Each video covers essential careers details such as what a day in the job looks like, the key personal qualities needed and the school subjects tied to the profession. Over their time at Western, children will explore over 100 careers through these videos.
Research shows that children begin to form career aspirations as young as 3 and 4 and begin to narrow these aspirations by age 6. At Western we are passionate about providing our children with experiences and opportunities to help them become whatever they aspire to be in life, along with challenging stereotypes. We believe that if children can see it, they can achieve it. These videos are one of the many ways we are enriching our Careers curriculum.
