Prospective parents
Prospective parents are invited to visit school where new pupils are able to meet their potential Class Teacher. Additionally a visit will provide the opportunity to learn about the life of our school, including its ethos and values.

Admission Arrangements for Nursery
Western Community Primary School has a 52 place nursery offering the 15 hours universal entitlement during term time (26 children attend for five morning sessions and 26 children attend for five afternoon sessions). Admissions to the Nursery class are managed by the Senior Leader for Early Years. Pupils are eligible to attend Nursery at the beginning of the term following their third birthday. In order to be considered for a place, parents/carers must apply directly to the school by filling out the below form. Places are allocated based on the following criteria.
Oversubscription Criteria
- Looked after children in the care of a local authority or a child who was previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, Child Arrangement Order or Special Guardianship Order.
- Pupils who live within the catchment area of the school/class (pupils in this category with a sibling link (an older brother or sister) who attends school will be given priority).
- Sibling link (an older brother or sister) to include adoptive siblings, half siblings, step siblings and long term fostered children residing at the same address and who will be attends the school.
- Shortest distance measured as a straight line from a single fixed central point of the home address (including flats) to the central point of the school using the Local Land and Property Gazetteer and the Council’s Geographical Information System (GIS) system.
Where parents are refused a place, school will keep a waiting list of the names of applicants up to the start of the Autumn Term or ongoing. Children are placed on the waiting list according to the oversubscription criteria regardless of when their application was received.
Parents/carers will be notified of a September start following the Easter Holidays. Parents/carers will be notified of a January start at the beginning of November.
Admission Arrangements for Reception
Prospective parents are invited to visit the school during the autumn term before the in-take year, to see the school in action. All Reception children are admitted during the first week of the autumn term in September.
Parents are informed of the admission arrangements in some detail during visits to the school in the summer term. There is an opportunity during this term for children to visit their new class and teacher and for parents to meet staff and children, view the school, find out about our philosophy and organisation and raise any questions.
